Happy Independence Day!!!!
We had a great day yesterday, especially living in the Nation's capital. We spent most of the day at home, and enjoyed having daddy home for the day. Then some friends of ours invited us over for dinner.
Bella eating some watermelon (her favorite). We had plans to tough it out and go downtown to see the fireworks, but then it began to rain like crazy and the national Mall issued an evacuation for those who were downtown and into the Smithsonian's because of a Tornado and Storm warning. So then we changed our plans because there were rumors of them cancelling the fireworks. To make a long story short, the weather suddenly cleared up and some friends had called us to say that the roads were totally clear all the way into town. So we changed our plans again and decided to risk it even though they said it would rain again. Well, we were super lucky because the roads were totally clear (pretty weird because it is D.C.) and we parked at the Pentagon parking lot.
This is the closest I'm sure we will get to the Pentagon.
Anyway, then we found a perfect spot along the Potomac river to watch the fireworks...and no rain in sight. the traffic on the way home wasn't too bad and we were home in no time. What a great day and the most spectacular fireworks I've seen in a long time.
Ben was so excited for the fireworks that he wore himself out before we even got there.
Bells who was too excited wouldn't go to sleep like we planned and she was totally wired for the night until it was time to go home. Luckily, Ben woke up just in time for the fireworks.

hey melissa this is sheri. I was jealous you got to see the DC fireworks! I want to celebrate the 4th someday there. It seems like such a bigger deal than here out west. Well take care!
