Why I am Voting for Mitt Romney, and Why you Should Too!

I am having a real hard time figuring out why people are so scared of former Governor Mitt Romney. They say he is plastic, slick, too rich and not in touch with Americans. Oh yeah, and the Mormon thing seems to really scare people away.

Well, full disclosure here, I am also a Mormon myself, and I am one that will admit that I am voting for him mostly because he is a Mormon, but for good reasons. Now if you remember though, there was another Mormon candidate, Jon Huntsman that was also running, but I has major issues with him because he was so on-the-borderline Mormon, that it seemed he wanted to play the whole field instead of being consistent and so comparing the two, was like apples to oranges.

Many claim that Romney will say anything and has flip-flopped, but I say that he is mature and humble enough to admit that he has actually learned from his mistakes (i.e. Romney Care) and has experience to know that it didn’t work and is the first one to admit that it didn’t work, so why try doing it on a Federal level? He also has stated that as he has learned as he goes and that some things he felt should be supported on a state level, but doesn’t mean that it should be supported on a Federal level. He has also said he supported certain things because he represented and did what the majority of people wanted, but personally, he didn’t agree with the politics. Now that he is running for President, he is standing on his own two feet and standing for what HE believes in. Huge difference!

But let’s go back to the Mormon thing, and let me explain why I am voting for him because of that. Besides the fact that he has been faithfully married to his wife of 43 years, and has 5 grown and mature boys and a boatload of grandchildren in tow; besides the fact that he is hard-working, reliable, responsible and experienced and is the man for the job; besides the fact that he has grown his own wealth from dedication, sweat and tears and is living proof of the American dream….people still villain-ize him because he is doing all the right things and must be up to something.

It’s sad that 99% of our politicians and public servants are deceitful, selfish, corrupt and out to line their pockets first, so naturally we are all skeptical of each person that comes along claiming they want to fix things. We all believed Obama was a Savior and was going to bring Real Change...did he though? The change I have seen, smells worse than my sons soiled diaper honestly, but Obama walks around and blames the smell on the last guy who wore the same diaper regardless of his own duty that he added while on duty…okay you get the drift….okay, no more, I promise. ☺

So back to Romney and my whole point. Romney is the most honest out there. I trust him for many reasons based on his character and commitment to his family, and to his God. Whether or not you believe the “Mormon stories” or of our “golden bible,” Mitt believes in the same God that you do and believes that he will be accountable for everything he says and does on the last day.

Mitt also is a faithful member who is able to attend and worship in our sacred temples, and that for me says everything. Not just any member of our church can enter the temple. In fact, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints must prove themselves worthy through faithful adherence to higher values, standards and morals. That includes full fidelity to your spouse or living the law of chastity, being free of any and all addictions both physically and spiritually (Including alcohol, drugs, and pornography) and being pure and honest. In fact, one of my favorite questions asked in your “interview” to receive a temple recommend, is “are you honest in your daily dealings with your fellow men.” To answer that question is not a simple yes or no, UNLESS you are constantly thinking about these questions each day of your life and making small right and honest choices along the way, so that when you sit down with your Bishop and then Stake President (higher clergy), that you can give an honest and simple Yes or No. If you cannot live these standards, then you are not given a recommend to enter the temple where you make sacred covenants based on your faithfulness, fidelity and honesty. If Mitt has one of these temple recommends in his wallet to enter the temple at any time that he feels he needs inspiration and enlightenment, then why WOULDN’T you want someone like that in office, caring for the needs of the American people! This is a man I want representing my country and who will prayerfully consider the path that would be best for our nation and people.

All other criticisms aside, he is not perfect and has said some boneheaded things that make you want to hit your forehead like that of Homer Simpson…(and the “doh” sound might come out occasionally too.) But when there is a major waterline break in the system, you don’t call just a plumber with a wrench to fix it, you call in the experts with their heavy machinery and know-how to stop the flooding, and you put all your trust in them to fix the problem. Romney is no Joe the Plumber; he is the big-wig contractor that will get the job done right with the right tools!

And it doesn’t hurt him that he is ruggedly good looking too.
