Typhoon Kompasu

As some of you may have heard, we have a huge Typhoon that is about to head right over our tiny island of Okinawa in a few hours, and for the most part, it was a really nice day, but the winds and rain have been picking up and we are bunkered down in the house for a few days until the storm passes. I believe that the typhoon is a catagory 3 and the eye of the storm is expected to pass near our house.

I will try to take pictures of our adventures of waiting out the storm, but I get the feeling already that it will be a long night, as most discribe typhoons as super load like a train going through your house. We live in a pretty secure home that is built to withstand the winds and rain, so I'm not too worried about that, and John was also good enough to go to the store today and pick up some essential items to get us through the next few days (such as more Wii games and movies to entertain the kids, steaks to eat (seriously) and a $25 box of chocolates for me (seriously)...because he knows a happy wife = two to three days of sane-home-bound-living.)

We've also filled up the tubs with water, charged all the batteries, made sure we had enough food and water for at least a week, flashlights, and washed all the clothes and dishes in case we loose water.

This should be an interesting experience for our family and we will try to keep you updated through the blog or facebook as things progress.

Wish us luck and a sleepful night. :)
